From Carnegie Hall World Music Series to The Getty in LA, from New Orleans Jazz Fest to Philadelphia Folk Festival, South Africa’s Sharon Katz & The Peace Train have thrilled audiences and presenters with their Afro-Jazz-Rock-Folk fusion of global music and dance.
After helping Nelson Mandela end Apartheid with their tour aboard The Peace Train, the band’s international career has featured performances and workshops on three continents; 10 albums including 5 on the Grammy ballot; starring in the award-winning film, When Voices Meet; and being recorded along with Elton John, Tina Turner and Paul Simon for Sting’s Carnival! Album.
The documentary "When Voices Meet" about the work and music of The Peace Train, was released in 2015 to great acclaim and was selected for over 40 film festivals, winning numerous awards, including Best Documentary and Best Original Soundtrack.
Recordings include “Imbizo” on Billboard’s Highly Recommended list and Grammy nomination list for Best World Music Album; “Live in NYC with Pete Seeger;” “Double Take” with Afro-Jazz divas Abigail Kubeka and Dolly Rathebe; “Carnival!” with Sting, Elton John, Tina Turner and Madonna; “Side-By Side” featuring Sharon Katz and Peace Train co-founder, Nonhlanhla Wanda; "We Can Be The Change" recorded in South Africa and Cuba; and "For You"., a stunning collection of originals. All albums have been on the Grammy ballott in Global and Folk Music categories.
