Somebody has to fill the moon.

It leaks, you see, a little light spilling out every night, and for as long as anyone can remember the Old Man has handled the issue. Every evening he climbs up and tops it off, every night. Until the night his wife hears a song she can't quite place, follows it out the door, and disappears.

The Old Man and the Old Moon is a brand-new folktale that feels a thousand years old. Created by PigPen Theatre Co., it's told with live indie-folk music, shadow puppetry, and a stageful of ordinary objects transformed into oceans and storms and enormous whales right in front of you. There is no film to compare it to and no way to stream it. It exists, as many beautiful stories have for centuries, only in the space where it's created.

This is a play, with music, about the stories we tell, the people we chase, and the light we keep pouring into the dark. Bring your kids. Bring your parents. Bring a tissue.
