Royal Wood
Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Royal Wood has established himself as a true musical talent. Since being proclaimed “Songwriter of the Year” by iTunes, Wood has continued to evolve and hone his musical craft while maintaining a unique identity.
His eighth full-length studio album, 2022's What Tomorrow Brings, was up “For Your Consideration” for BEST FOLK ALBUM at the 2024 Grammys. With that album, Wood reached new emotional depths and delivered his most powerful collection of music to date. Crafted alongside world-renowned writer/producers Linda Perry (Adele, Alicia Keys) and Jamie Scott (Ed Sheeran, Michael Kiwanuka), the album drew from deeply personal points in Wood's life, effectively capturing the emotion of those moments.
Now Royal has set his sights even higher by teaming up with 5-time Grammy winning mixer and producer Ryan Freeland (Bonnie Raitt, Ray LaMontagne, Rolling Stones). This new album is set to be released in 2025 and includes Grammy winning musicians Ash Soan on drums and Hutch Hutchinson on bass.
Royal Wood has received multiple JUNO nominations, 5 Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, and a #1 added song at Hot AC Radio. Having seen high-profile features on programs such as Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, his catalogue has amassed over 30 million streams worldwide. Most recently his single "A Good Enough Day” was used in a TV campaign that generated a surge in Spotify attention that is now approaching 4 MILLION streams. Capturing the same sonic and emotional depth of these recordings, Wood translates his songs into astounding live performances. This live prowess has led to headline performances in world-class venues like Massey Hall in Toronto and The Paradiso in Amsterdam. As well as “special guest” billing on full national tours for globally celebrated artists such as Bonnie Raitt and David Gray.
Royal Wood on his upcoming album ‘Dear John’: Royal’s new album DEAR JOHN is a letter to himself. It is a message and a gift to the child within that began his journey in music all those years ago from a true, genuine, exciting, and connected vision. It is both classic Royal and an explosion of contemporary boundary breaking art at the same time
